If you were required to change your name today, what would you change it to?
Sabina Sabrina – Just to mess with people who email, call, text. You can’t really tell which is first and which is last.
Where did you go and what did you do the first time you skipped school?
I guess I am not one of the ‘cool’ kids, I never cut or skipped for fear of being caught. Following the rules reaped benefits, and it still does today!
Imagine someone is annoying you on the phone. What do you say to get them off the line?
It’s not what I say, but what I do. I text one of my kids to ring our landline with another call and tell the person on the phone, I gotta take that. Since they can hear it ringing, that ends that. Yes, landlines come in use for something!
However, I am more likely to say, “tell you what, I’m busy now but if you give me your number, I’ll call you around Midnight when it calms down around here!”
And if I am jovial after being annoyed by the caller, ” I’m gonna make a like a bakery truck and haul buns – ttyl ”
What type of filter did you apply to your social media profile photo?
I don’t do filters.
Describe your most unusual phobia?
This is way beyond, but, have you ever driven in a car when it is dark? Well, for me, with a 3 row SUV, it is a nightmare. I get freaked out and must turn the lights on over and over to make sure no one is behind me in the car seats.
What’s the most unique rumor that you’ve heard about yourself?
When I heard that I was ‘not considered a real travel writer’
If your friends had to compare you to a character from Golden Girls or Steel Magnolias, or a personality from RuPaul’s Drag Race, who would you be and why?
Michelle Visage — because she is brutally honest and open. There’s nothing Fake about her and she is always looking for the best version of anyone she interacts with. Her presence is upbeat and always sparky!
If a used car salesman were to describe to you what would they say? Sell us yourself in auto terminology.
This car is a luxury but sporty model, Classy, corners like she’s on rails, in excellent condition, with ALL Original parts. No rust, and loaded with all the bells and whistles. Her sound system has no filter, but booms.
Count on her being low maintenance because she’s a self-starter. From the minute you hit the gas pedal, the fuel fiercely fuel runs through her injectors and she accelerates fast from 0-60 in 2 seconds!
Never worry about getting there, she’s got you covered. Bumps in the road were made for swerving, not stopping. There’s no such thing as ‘brakes’ in this beauty because she’s going the distance. NO matter where the adventure takes her, she’s got the capabilities to handle it.
What’s your fondest TMS memory?
Getting together with all of what I consider my extended family. That’s what it is about right? Sometimes I forget its a conference (work) and think of it as a big, fun gathering. It is all that.
Then, there is Joanne & Company, of course, I mean who could forget those bear hugs we get and her happiness, when she says, ‘There are my girls!’ when she sees a bunch of us together!
